Hi ... I'm Candace Gallagher. I live  in New Jersey with my husband, Michael (a writer for comic books and MAD Magazine) and a menagerie of rescued pets, including Chaos, my constant companion.

Medicine Beads took shape as a culmination of many things: my love of beauty and color, the meditative aspect of working with one's hands to create something wonderful, an  interest in the healing qualities of gemstones, and the desire to help others.

I began by making custom jewelry as gifts for my family and friends, who then wanted to give the same sort of gifts to their friends. Very quickly, the circle grew,  and Medicine Beads was born.

I live surrounded by trees and nature, which is very important to me. In addition to designing jewelry, I love to cook,  write poetry, listen to music and (occasionally) participate as an actress with local theatre groups. I also work full-time at a very busy job that I enjoy a lot. I find a healthy balance between the type of work that I do during the day (cerebral and fast-paced) and the work I do at other times (instinctual and meditative).
